Finishes are where people get tempted. Gloss, matte, soft-touch, spot UV, rounded corners, thick stock. All nice. Not all necessary. A solid, clean card on a good thickness is usually enough. Soft-touch feels unreal in the hand, but it can show fingerprints if you’re handling a lot. Gloss pops colour but can feel a bit “flashy” depending on the industry. Matte can look tidy and modern. There isn’t one right answer. There is such a thing as going overboard though.
Business Cards Mistakes
Common mistake: putting every social link on the back. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, WhatsApp. It becomes clutter. Pick the one that matters. Or put a QR code to your contact page and be done with it. Another mistake: tiny logos pulled off a screenshot. If your logo is fuzzy on screen, it’ll be worse on print. Get the proper file. If you don’t have it, we can usually work around it, but it’s better to start clean. For help designing a good business card talk to us today.
